Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) has completed training and certification for its drone operators, laying the personnel foundation for smart inspection; its smart drone bridge inspection and maintenance system is scheduled to go live in the second half of next year — the first large-scale adoption of drone-based maintenance in Taiwan’s rail sector.
THSR describes the system as “precise rapid screening”: replacing manual bridge climbing with drones and cutting inspection time by 3 to 5 times.
